7 Tools for small businesses


7 tools for small businesses.

My business strategy for being a magician, was to wait for the phone to ring...that is essentially it. The phone would ring, I would take a booking, perform at the show, and hope that someone liked the magic enough to book me for one of their events. Last year however, saw my business treble in profit and double in booking, with 2017 set to be even better! The key was running my business like a business.

There are a few things I want to share that have helped my business – tools that have been very useful to me, and I hope they will be to you as well. All of the tools here are free, I don't use all of them any more, however they were a brilliant starting point for me. I haven't gone into too much detail of what each offers, this post is more to point you in the direction to see if it works for you.

Canva: https://www.canva.com/

Canva is a free online tool for generating awesome looking pictures for your social media platforms. You can choose between styles and various templates. What's great is that if you, like me, are useless at graphic design, Its easy to use and has lots of free tools! I use Canva every week to create promotional offers and images for the website. Wix: www.Wix.com

Speaking of website, I use WIX.COM to make mine. When I first started I used the free version which is ideal if you are on a budget. It is easy to use and have upgraded both the account and content over time. It now cost me about £150 a year, and I get a lot of business from it.

Buffer: www.Buffer.com

If you want to make social media usage easy, you need buffer, its free for the basic package (which is what I still use) and allows you to post on all your social media platforms at one time and schedule posts. Its simple and does what it says on the tin. The main benefit of using buffer for me is that is saves time. I have also found it appears on more feeds than when using 'Hootsuit,' which I used before buffer. Hootsuit is very good, and I know lots of people use it, It just wasn't for me.

Wisestamp: www.wisestamp.com

This gives you a professional looking signature on emails, with links to social networking sites. You can add quotes, youtube videos, pictures and more. What's great is the basic version is free and very easy to integrate to your email accounts. There is the option to upgrade to have more control, however I have not yet needed to.

Mailchimp: www.mailchimp.com

Building lists of clients is essential, and if you plan on sending out newsletters to your clients “mailchimp” is ideal.. The basic version is free, and will give you plenty of room to build your list before you need to upgrade. It has templates and is great for creating professional looking emails. You can create different list for different projects and scheduled the time they are sent.

CRM Systems:

Hubspot: www.Hubspot.com

If you want to have more order and control over your clients hubspot is great. You can enter each client into the system at which ever stage of the deal you are at. It allows you to create reminders, set tasks and is brilliant for keeping track of cold calling. The basic version is free and will give you a lot of room before you need to upgrade!

Streak: www.Streak.com

This is a google gmail App. And also allows you to enter clients at which ever stage of the deal you are at, making it easy to keep track of! This is a very useful app, I highly recommend using it!
